Master Fly Fisher!
In the last many years I have had the privilege of writing about many talented experienced fly fishers and professional guides.
While wondering around this worlds many rivers and streams in places like Vietnam, Laos. Alaska, Olympic Peninsula, North America, and South America.
Misty Dhillon is one special world class guide for the following validated reasons. He has established an international fly venue in one of the most exotic remote areas left in this shrinking world.
Mongolia, Tibet a place of ancient dreams, spiritualism, land of Tigers, land of endless intoxication is Misty’s world. He has personally guided the wealthy, famous and the humble in his outdoor life.
I have watched his journey from afar for sometime. It gives me great personal pleasure to report Misty’s World Record Catch & Release, a feat for all fly fishers to savor and perhaps chase!
The fish called Mahseer are thought to exist in the 40/50lb range in an area 40 miles down river from Misty’s usual haunts at the confluence near the Chukka section.
This area immortalized in Jim Corbett’s famous tome, "The Thak Man Eater" a place where Tiger’s once ruled and ancient villages now long abandoned heighten one’s sense of ethereal spirituality. This hypnotic lost river home to hard fighting ancient fish.
3 Days fruitlessly spent in back breaking heat without bites! A 10 weight 2 handed fly rod in the scorching heat every muscle sore in my back and arms...
I decided to put the old double handed rig up and grab the 7 weight single handed fly rod, after taking and releasing several small fish.
At 15:55 hours I hooked up into this Chap- I could not touch the reel even once, tried palming it-no way-this fish was not stopping-luckily it stopped before the rapids!
We landed her, and I could not believe my eyes. A very emotional moment for me- My Golden Goddess, the light of my eyes.
She was very cooperative in letting us take all these wonderful pictures before sending her back to the Kali..."
Over the years I have written about Misty’s outstanding world class exotic fly fishing and his clients.
This fellow has led the true adventure life in Mongolia Tibet upon mystic rivers that have run longer then civilizations.
In this life he has obviously mastered all that is the essence of fly fishing with a poetic knowledge of the history and the spirituality of a magical place with wild fish like the mighty Mahseer.
Congratulations Misty, welcome to the pantheon of world record holders. I salute you Sir!
